Welcome to the Louisville Marine Aquarium Society

The mission of the Louisville Marine Aquarium Society is to provide a resource and focus for hobbyists in the Kentuckiana region who have interests in captive marine systems. We will increase public awareness of the importance and value of living coral reef ecosystems. By increasing the hobbyist's level of understanding and depth of knowledge, we will help hobbyists become more successful in maintaining captive marine systems.

July 2010 Monthly Meeting Print
Sunday, 18 July 2010 19:39

The July meeting will be held at Cheryl Everitt's home.

When: July 25th at 4PM

Where: 4626 E. Kinderhook Rd.  Scottsburg, IN

It's been 2 years since Cheryl last hosted a meeting. Since then, like many club members, she lost most of her fish and corals during the Hurricane Ike power outages. It has taken most of this time to re-establish the 3 tanks she had prior to the storms. She has 2 75 gal. mixed reef tanks and a 55 gal. tank currently being used as a frag tank. Recently she purchased a used 180 gal. tank and plans to incorporate the 2 75 gal. tanks into it soon. This would be a great time for anyone who has upgraded to a larger tank or is planning on upgrading, to attend and discuss the pros and cons of going with a bigger tank.

Directions to 4626 E. Kinderhook Rd.  Scottsburg, IN

** Take I 65 N. to Exit 19 (Henryville).

** Turn right at the end of the ramp and go to the 4-way stop.

3rd Annual Frag Swap Pics

The 3rd Annual LMAS Frag Swap was a great success.  We had our biggest turnout ever!  I would like to thank our Vendors who came to town with some excellent corals - Coral Pets, Coral Ranch and Oceans Direct.

We also had a great turn out from some of our locals as well as some of our neighbors in Cincinnati and Indianapolis.

We could not have hosted such a great event with out the help of our club members.  You are what makes LMAS great!

Along with all the great coral deals, we had the best stash of raffle items the club has ever seen!  Please check out the banners on the site and support those that supported us!

Thanks to:

Reef Geek, Hello Lights, Drs. Foster Smith, Premium Aquatics, Pet Solutions, My Reef Creations, Pacific East Aquaculture, Eco System Marine, Two Little Fishes, RH Magazine, Champion Lighting, Triton's Garden and Atlantis.

There were many happy people that left the swap that day!

Here are a few pics that I took.  We will have more posted shortly. Click the pic for the link:
